Lighthouse

A Lighthouse is meant to be a place of refuge, a welcoming, warning beacon to unwary seafarers. In painting the subject in strong dynamic colours, especially the red sky against the yellow hill, I suggest there is more going on here. I leave it to the viewer to consider this in a wider context. The Lighthouse, however, seemingly a victim of its place, is nevertheless strong and defiant, perhaps a timeless reminder of a 'journey's end.'
